Introducing our new membership model

We have introduced a membership model with a small fee to help cover operational costs, such as the maintenance of the hub and the facilitation of community programs.

  • One-time visit: $20 per family

  • Quarterly membership: $50 per family with unlimited visits

For toy drop-offs and donations:

  • Brand new toys: No fee

  • Preloved toys: You can drop off up to 2kgs of preloved toys for free. After that, there is a charge of $5 per additional kilogram. The fees help us cover our operational costs and support the distribution of toys with our charity partners.

These fees enable us to maintain a sustainable service that benefits the community and promotes a positive environmental impact.

Feel free to message us at info@joyofgiving.net.

  • Can I donate directly to charties?
Yes, you can! In addition to our toy swapping system, we partner with various charities to distribute toys to families and communities in need. If you prefer, you can donate your toys directly to these charities through our hub, helping us reach even more people who will benefit from them.
  • Can I visit the hub even if I don’t have toys to swap?
Absolutely! Everyone is welcome to visit, learn more about our initiative, and support our mission in other ways, such as volunteering or spreading the word.
  • What makes Joy of GivingHub different from a toy library?
Unlike a toy library, which typically allows members to borrow toys for a set period, Joy of GivingHub focuses on saving toys from landfill and redistributing them through a toy swapping and sharing system. Our model allows you to exchange toys with others, or donate them directly to community organisations. We also run educational programs that promote sustainability and responsible consumption, aiming to foster long-term environmental impact and community engagement. Our approach is designed to make toys accessible while encouraging reuse and reducing waste.
  • Can I donate toys without swapping?
Yes! If you have preloved toys in good condition that you no longer need, you are welcome to donate them. Your donations help us provide toys to families, schools, and community organisations in need.
  • Is there a limit on the number of toys I can swap or drop off?
We encourage responsible swapping and donating to ensure fairness and sustainability. While there is no strict limit, we ask visitors to be mindful and bring a reasonable number of toys. Our recommended quantity is one shopping bag of toys plus one larger item, such as a game set or a ride-on toy. For larger donations, please contact us in advance so we can make suitable arrangements.
  • What kind of items do you accept?
We accept high-quality, clean, and gently used toys, books, and other play-related items that are safe and in good and working condition. The simple rule: Is it good enough for your friends and my children? This includes: ✔️ Books and puzzles ✔️ Board games and card games ✔️ Building sets (e.g. LEGO, Duplo, Mega Bloks) ✔️ Ride-on toys and outdoor play equipment ✔️ Pretend play toys (e.g. dolls, action figures, kitchen sets) ✔️ Vehicles (e.g. toy cars, trains) ✔️ Educational toys and STEM kits ✔️ Soft toys (must be washed) ✔️ Children’s costumes and dress-up items ✔️ Stationery and craft supplies (e.g. colouring books, crayons, stickers) We do not accept: ❌ Broken or incomplete toys ❌ Large bulky items (e.g. trampolines, large playsets) ❌ Battery-operated toys without working batteries ❌ Promotional or fast-food giveaway toys Please note: We may refuse any toys that are not suitable due to quality, safety, or storage limitations.
  • What makes Joy of GivingHub different from a traditional Op Shop?
At Joy of GivingHub, we focus specifically on saving toys from landfill and redistributing them through toy swapping and sharing. Unlike traditional op shops that sell second-hand items, we offer toys through a swapping system for our members or for free with our charity partners, making them accessible to all. Our programs are designed to engage communities in sustainable practices by promoting the reuse of toys and fostering a positive environmental impact.
  • Can I still toy swap if I cannot afford the fees?
We believe in making the toy swap accessible to everyone. If you're unable to afford the fees, please reach out to us directly or let us know upon arrival—no questions will be asked. We are continuously refining our process and plan to offer free membership in the near future. Your participation is important to us, and we want to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to join.
  • Do you accept soft toys?
Yes, we accept high-quality, clean, and gently used soft toys. We kindly ask that you wash them before bringing them to ensure they are in the best condition for their next home.
  • Will the hub be open regularly after the soft opening?
Yes! We are starting with a soft opening and will soon announce our regular operating hours. Stay tuned for updates on our website and social media.
  • How does the toy swap work?
Bring your new toys or preloved toys in good condition, and you can exchange them for other toys available at the hub. It’s a simple and fun way to give your toys a second life while finding something new for your child.
  • What are the charges? Why do you charge?
We have introduced a membership model with a small fee to help cover operational costs, such as the maintenance of the hub and the facilitation of community programs. One-time visit: $20 per family Quarterly membership: $50 per family with unlimited visits For toy drop-offs and donations: Brand new toys: No fee Preloved toys: You can drop off up to 2kgs of preloved toys for free. After that, there is a charge of $5 per additional kilogram. The fees help us cover our operational costs and support the distribution of toys with our charity partners. These fees enable us to maintain a sustainable service that benefits the community and promotes a positive environmental impact.
  • What’s Joy of Giving?
Joy of Giving is an independent, non-government funded registered charity focused on reducing waste by saving toys from landfill and redistributing them through swapping, sharing, and donations. We engage communities in sustainable practices while promoting reuse and environmental responsibility. We also run educational workshops to raise awareness about sustainability.
  • How to prepare for your first visit?
Bring new or preloved toys in good condition for swapping Ensure toys are clean and safe for others to use If you’re planning to donate, bring up to 2kgs of preloved toys for free (after that, there’s a small fee) Review our membership options if you’re interested in signing up Be ready to ask any questions you may have about our programs and how we operate Bring your family along to enjoy the experience together!
